Marisol directs and develops strategy for Amasar, which promotes the consumption of pana (breadfruit) and its nutritional benefits, and supports farms, especially in PR’s central region. Amasar supports more than 25 small farmers that have processed some 15,000 panas this year, or 50,000 pounds. She developed a value-added project to turn breadfruit into flour and make it suitable for numerous recipes. She has a bachelor’s in industrial microbiology and a master’s in plant biochemistry from UPR.
